I want to start doing post about different conversations Jocelyn has with us! She is talking SO much now and some of the things she is saying are hysterically! I think it's because they are coming out of her little mouth with her little voice! So as I remember them I will post them! I'll call them, "Jocelyn says"!

Jocelyn says, "Um guys...I have a tummy ache and a headache! I need medicine! Two!!"

Jocelyn says, "I TINY!!" (completely out of the blue)

Jocelyn says, "She's MY Mommy!" too Casen
Mommy says, "Oh no Jocelyn, I'm Casen's mommy too!"
Jocelyn says, "NO he DADDY'S!!"

Jocelyn says, "Me draw picture for GrandmaGrandpaDavis"

Jocelyn says, "Casen poo-pooed!"
Mommy says, "He did? Should we change his diaper?"
Jocelyn says, "Yeah!!! PEE-YOUUU" *as she holds her nose!

If we tell her we are doing ANYTHING she asks us about 100 times before the event if we are still doing that! So we decided to tell her what we are doing only a little bit before to avoid hearing that SO much!
Example:
Mommy says, "Jocelyn, today we are going to Issac's birthday from daycare! It's going to be an Elmo party!"
Jocelyn says, "ISSAC'S BIRTHDAY??????"
and then repeats, "ISSAC"S BIRTHDAY? I wanna go Issac's birthday!" in a super sad/whiney voice UNTIL we pull up to the party and get out! HA!

*Jocelyn said, "Mommy, take picture!!" as they layed on the floor next to each other while I changed both of their diapers!

Jocelyn is so much better! She just has a slight cough left now!

Casen is feeling better during the days but nights are still a little rough! Mornings he tends to cough a lot still too! Mommy is about 2 days ahead of Casen. I have a very deep cough that only stirs up when I laugh! Other than that I feel fine! Praying daddy doesn't get sick!

So this will be another quiet, resting weekend for us again! It's such great weather we will do a lot of backyard play! We have really missed it! We started to put out all our patio chairs and rinse everything off the other night! We put everything away after our big wind storms! We may even be able to eat dinner outside again soon! Can't wait for that!

Sick Baby

Casen and I are home today! The little man got his first fever yesterday! Steve took him to the doctors and they said it was an ear infection!
She confirmed his cough was not whooping cough or RSV! Thank you Lord! So he is on antibiotics now too! Snuggling mommy all day is on our agenda!
But he is 14lbs, 9oz now! Growing right along!!

It was 2 years ago today that Jocelyn entered the hospital for RSV! I can't believe 2 years later her brother is getting sick for the first time too! We are just thankful it's not RSV for him! Hard for it not to be in the back of my head though! I know God is watching over him & us! Needless to say I'm not a fan of January, cold season or winter! Bring on spring quickly please!!

Yesterday I had to leave this little man for the longest I ever have in 3 1/2 months! It was pretty hard! Back to work I went bright and early on Monday! It's day 2 & getting better already! Just so many people to get ready in the mornings now! Diapers to be changed, hair to be done & babies to be fed! But I;n sure it will all become second nature soon! Right now I have the constant feeling of forgetting something! I have been pretty proud to get dinner on the table both nights so far!

The 1st night after daycare Casen slept from 9pm-3am straight! Heaven for mommy!!

So you would think Jocelyn would be fine when I left her at daycare again! But apparently after I didn't take her for 4 1/2 months it was really hard for her! Both mornings so far she has cried! It's the worst feeling ever to see her that way! Hopefully after the routine sets back in she will calm down!
Casen has had 2 great days! He plays a lot & goes with the flow of things! Puts my mind at ease!

In other news our litlle....or should I say, "strong" man actually sat up on Saturday & Sunday night! We couldn't believe it! At 3 1/2 months too!!

I wanted to do a Valentine's photoshoot with the kids this year! I grabbed an old sheet that I already had! Then I used a box I used for a Christmas shoot & added hearts to it! I picked up some things from the dollar store & Joann's (gotta love 30% off + my 10% off coupon)! Overall it went well! I did have to bribe Jocelyn with candy though! But once she was in it she had a lot of fun! I also made sure Casen was fed right before so he would be happy too!

With two kids now we wanted a mello NYE! Summer decided to have a last minute party! It was so nice to talk with all the girls while the husbands kept the kids busy! Such a fun night!

Family Vacation....of 4!!

Gorgeous views on our family vacation this year! Overall we had a really great time! A few different things to deal with while traveling with two littles but created some great memories!

On our drive we saw this poor truck driver who has his whole cab on fire! He was safely out when we saw this!

We had to stop a LOT with the 2 kids on the way up! Our last stop Jocelyn and daddy made shadow people!! It took us from 8am to 6:30 to get up there!

We were really close to a mall and outside mall in Roseville! So one day we walked over there! It was pretty cold at 44 degrees at some points so we bundled up the babies!

Once night in Roseville we let Jocelyn get a little ice cream sandwich! We put it in a to go box to keep the mess down! Looked like Casen wanted one too!
Wes stopped at a place called Case de Frutas on our way to Grandpa's house! It was a really cool place where everything started with "Casa de.."! So they had Case de Diesel, Casa de Wine, Casa de Resturant...everything. Even a Case de ChooChoo!!

We found a mini train that we all could ride called Casa de Choo Choo! Jocelyn LOVED and it and said, "this train is AWESOME!"

Before we got to my Grandpa's house we had to take a very curvy road! I was sitting in the back with Jocelyn when she said, "mommy i need out! my throat!!" and she reached up for her mouth! I knew exactly what was about to happen but of course couldn't react nearly as fast as I would have liked! Being on a curvy road up in the mountains there was little chances to pull over! So this was where we ended up! That is all the picture from that experience you will need to see! Ha! She was eating dinner an hour later so we knew it was just her being car sick! Just like her mommy and ironically this also happened to me going to my Grandpa Mac's house when I was about 10! Poor baby girl!!!

We discoverd that Casen has very similar eyes and nose structure to his Great-Grandpa Mac!

This is us at dinner with my Grandpa and Ellen. They have a full dining room at their senior living apt! They have set menu's and with usually 3 choices and then of course an alternative! You can have as much of anything that you want! They even had wine! All the seniors LOVED the kids of course and kept coming over to our table to say hi!

When I was breastfeeding Casen, Jocelyn liked to sit in the front seat with daddy for a little bit! What a great vacation with lots of different adventures when traveling with 2 little ones!

Casen is 3 months today! As soon as iphoto decides to work I will upload his 3 month photos that we took super quick.

So as you see Casen saw Santa yesterday! Notice Jocelyn's not in the photo? Yeah well that was because she was TERRIFIED of Santa when we got there!

I had talked to her about Santa for weeks...literally! Since I know her personality and had a feeling she would be timid! But from day one of talking to her she always said she did NOT want to sit on his lap or take a photo with him! We finally came to a compromise of me sitting on his lap and she would sit on MY lap. Although in my head I didn't really plan on doing exactly that. Maybe kneeling next to him! I'm a little old for that I'd think! Ha!

But when we go there and I told her what line we were waiting in she got sad and wanted "my daddy" the whole time. Then we got to the front and showed her Santa thinking it might put her mind at ease! Um noo...it had the opposite affect! She freaked! She practically tried to climb over Steve's head to get away from him! So then we just had Casen sit on his lap since we definitely wouldn't push Jocelyn! Not worth it!

But at least mommy got a photo of Casen's 1st Christmas with Santa! Maybe I'll photoshop Jocelyn in some day!? :-)

Grandma Davis is now at a recovery center! She is doing physical therapy twice a day to get stronger so she can come home soon! We have gone to see her every other day since we can bring the kids there! We are very much hoping to have her home by Christmas!
Saturday my mom continued the tradition of taking the grandkids to the Nutcracker! I got a little emotional hearing the music and knowing it was the first time Jocelyn was hearing it!
Then on Sunday we went to see Nicolas at his Christmas choir performance! Had to take a picture of the kids with their pacifiers in!

I went down to Oceanside to take pictures of my cousins son, Jensen! He just turned 6 months! He is adorable and we had fun posing him and changing his outfits! I had to bring Casen of course so that was challenging but at least Caroline could help with him while I snapped photos of Jensen!

But first we had to do a fun photo shoot...

I took Casen for his 2 month check up yesterday. Poor thing passed out right after the shots. But when he woke up around 6 he was MAD! Super mad! Steve and I took turns rocking him and comforting him! He finally passed out around 8pm! He then woke to eat at 10pm and passed out until 4am! He is doing much better today and doesn't seem to be feeling any pain now!

The doctor said he is doing great and growing right on track. In fact he is in the 50% percentile for weight now.

He coo'd and showed off his big gummy smile to the doctor as well!

We spent Thanksgiving at Robin & Jeff's this year! Thankfully after 11 days in the hospital, Karen (Steve's mom) is out of the hospital! Hopefully she will get stronger every day! Here are a few picture's Jeff took! I'll post more later when we upload our photos!

Family Vacation

We started our vacations at Ferrell's Ice Cream Parlor! It was Jocelyn's first time there and she loved it. They sang to at least 8 people! Every time it was super loud and her eyes got super big but she smiled each time and would yell, "birthday!!"! Maybe this will be a place we will celebrate her birthday some year!

Kelly and Ryan invited us last weekend to Cerritos Mall to take picture's with Muno and Toodie from Yo Gabba Gabba! We had to wait 1.5 hr with two 2yr olds, one 1 yr old and one 6 wkers! OY! What a challenging thing to do! But with 4 adults to distract all the kids we made it through OK!
Thanks to the baby sling, Casen slept the whole time (except for a short break to feed him so he would stay asleep).
Muno had to do a potty break and he went right up to Emma to say Hi! She loved it!

I realized I forgot to post the latest stats of the kiddies! So here we go!

Casen @ 5 wks

10lbs, 4oz and 22" long

I took him in because he had a clogged tear duct and I wanted to make sure it wasn't anything more. Jocelyn got the same thing at the same age. Thankfully it wasn't and it cleared up much faster than Jocelyn's did actually!

He is having some spit ups but obviously he is gaining weight and not in pain in between feedings. So we will keep a close eye on it considering Jocelyn's severe reflux and put him on meds if he needs them.

He smiles a lot now and even coos now!

She had her 2yr appt and got to stand on the "big girl" scale! She did so well considering how nervous she was in the waiting room. The doctor was really happy that she is putting 3 and 4 word sentences together! The only negative was her excema which is an on and off issue. We continue to try and tackle it and be as aggressive as we can to keep it under control.

Mommy now has to bribe a bit to get pictures...with a donut!

Halloween Fun 2011

It was Casen's first Halloween! We dressed him up as Elmo! Jocelyn was Abby Cadabby! So since they were both characters from Sesame Street, Steve & I wore a Big Bird & Cookie Monster shirts!

We went to Jenn & David's house first! We hung out friends & then walked to a few houses for some trick or treating! Jocelyn caught right on & said "trick or treat" at most houses! She was so cute I could barely stand it!

Then we went back to our street & visited a few of our neighbors! Then we went back to our house to hand out candy! Jocelyn loved every second of it! She was so hyped up she didn't want to sleep! But of course once she was down she was fast asleep!

So we finally got to Irvine Railroad park this year. We had to go super early! It filled up so fast yet again! We were even the first ones on the train! My mom had Jack since Kelly and Ryan had another wedding to go to. So we met them there! So much fun!

4 weeks today!

I'm 4 weeks today!

I'm still eating every 2 hours during the day and sometimes during the night I give my mom a 3hr stretch!

Likes: When mommy and daddy hold me, when my big sister comes over to make faces at me, windows, mirrors, rocking, smiling, bouncing, tummy time for about 2 minutes!
Dislikes: Tummy time after 2 minutes, being gassy, not eating, driving in the car, being swaddled!

Diaper Size: Already in size 1's (since 3wks)

Clothes: Fit just fine in NB but can also wear some 0-3 or 3 month clothes!

Feet: Already 3" long

Caught Casen's 1st Smile

I caught Casen's first interaction smile today on camera! We had just gone for a walk and I put him on the bed. He was very alert and so I started to talk to him. He surprised me by smiling back at me! I was torn between running for the camera and continuing to engage him! I saw the camera was actually closer than I thought so I tried to get him to smile a few more times! Which he did but not as big as that first one I saw. Still glad that I caught it on the camera!

He is 3 1/2 weeks today! Jocelyn was 4 wks and 2 days the first time I caught her smile!

Jocelyn is now officially 2 years old and Casen is 2 weeks old today!

After 9 days my headaches finally stopped! Yay!

We took Casen for his 2 wk check up & he was 8lbs, 9oz! 2 oz over his birth weight! The doctor was super happy with his weight & said it's exactly where he should be! We don't have to go back until he is 2 months now!

Casen's Newborn Photo Shoot

Here are two teaser photos we got from the newborn photo session we had yesterday with my friend Heidi! www.heidibollesphotography.com My sister had gotten me this shoot as a baby shower gift! I was so excited to use it. Heidi said it was always best to get newborn photos between 7-10 days of their birth so they are super sleepy still. We'll our little man Casen did not want to sleep at all! He wanted to be wide awake and suck on his pacifier the whole time. He fought sleep the entire session but once he was asleep it was well worth the photos we got! The whole session ended up taking 4 hrs since we had to wait a lot to let Casen work out his inner model! Ha! But we had SO much fun!

We can't wait to see the rest!
This guitar was Steve's grandfather's whom he was very close to. Steve suggested we use it in the shoot and I thought it would be a perfect idea! How did we do this? Was Casen ever in danger? Of course not! I'm actually behind him with both my hands on him. This is a product of photoshop! Amazing what you can do these days! This shot took a few times. First he was not asleep enough and kept moving. I was not so sure we should keep going but once he fell asleep so soundly we decided to try this shot one more time! SO glad we did!

Casen's Birth Story

It all started on Wed., Sept 21st. I had my latest doctors appt for Casen. The doctor told me I was almost 4cm's along and 60% effaced already. She said I was really close and that she thought I would go into labor on my own that weekend. But she did offer to induce me on Monday the 26th if nothing had happened by then. I decided not to do that and try and see if he would pick his own birthday!

All day Thursday, the 22nd I wasn't feeling great but wasn't feeling full on labor either! I decided to stay home all day just in case. I didn't want my water breaking in the middle of Joann's Fabric! Ha! I got a few projects out of the way that I'd been meaning to do for awhile. Like creating Jocelyn's shadow box full of her 1st birthday items.

We put Jocelyn to bed and started to turn in ourselves. Around 10:30pm my contractions started to pick up. I didn't wake up Steve until around 2:30am. I told him he needed to call for a sub because he wasn't going to school on Friday! I also text my mom to let her know as she would be the one to take care of Jocelyn while we had Casen!

My plan all night was to make it to 6:45am when we could drop off Jocelyn at daycare and make her day as normal as possible. Then I felt I could relax and go to the hospital knowing my baby girl was taken care of. A few times during the night I wasn't sure I'd make it to that time. But I didn't need to worry! I had plenty of time!

Steve and I dropped Jocelyn off at Lori's....I was very teary eyed knowing what was about to happen and how much Jocelyn's world would change!

We arrived at the hospital around 8am! They hooked me up to the monitor and waited to see where I was at. I was still only about 4cm's and my contractions were 5-12 minutes apart. So a bit all over the place. Not consistent at all! My normal doctor wasn't on call so we had to deal with the other doctor in the practice. He wanted me to walk around and try to get the contractions closer. He does things a little differently than our doctors.

After an hour I was 5cm's and contractions were 7 minutes apart. So the doctor was happy to admit me then.

They hooked up the IV and then started pitocin. Contractions picked up but nothing I couldn't handle. The nurse told me I was approved to get an epidural at any time. I didn't want to get it too early but she said that they last at least 8hrs and if it stopped working they could give me more.

So I got the epi at 3:45pm. Something that usually takes 15-20 minutes took over an hour. They had to try 3 times. The needle would go in but the catheter wouldn't. The anesthesiologist said my bones were really close together and it was hard to get it in. Although I had no issues when I got one with Jocelyn.

Due to the fact that he had to do it 3 times, he said he was pretty sure that he nicked a hole in my spinal fluid and I would most likely get a "spinal headache". Lovely! Apparently this is pretty common!

Around then my nurse called the doctor to let him know I needed to have my water broken because the baby was basically waiting on that. He informed her he had just gotten home and would head back "soon". My doctor told me she would have broken my water the minute I had been admitted. But we were at this other doctors mercy so we waited. Needless to say the nurse....and I were a bit annoyed!

By 7:30pm I was 6-7 cm's and my water bag started to leak-but was still in tacked. I was starting to feel a lot of pressure and had to start breathing through my contractions again. I don't think I really noticed that I could fully feel my legs again by then!

Around 8pm I told Steve he had to get the nurse right then because I was going to need to push soon! The nurse came and checked me and said I was 9cm's almost 10! She ran to call the doctor to see why he hadn't come yet! Things happened really fast after that! 3 nurses were running around getting the room ready for Casen's delivery while one begged me not to push! She said it was a MUST for the doctor to be in the room when the baby came. But I seriously remember thinking that these 3 nurses looked more than capable of catching a baby! But based on their urging I tried to hold it! Then everyone stared at the door waiting for the doctor to arrived. I was obviously not so quiet during this time as I could feel every contraction! Thankfully Steve was right there and helped me through each one!

Finally the doctor arrived and he finally let me push! I believe it was around 3 sets of pushes and he was out. The doctor never did break my water. So that was the only thing keeping him in really! Casen Patrick Davis arrived at 8:33pm! He wasn't crying at all but did shortly after he was on my chest for a few minutes. The first thing I remember seeing was his long fingernails! He was of course completely perfect!

In the hospital I started to get the spinal headache. They talked about doing a blood patch where they take my blood and put it back into my back and basically "patch" the hole in my spine. But they decided against it.

So I basically have been dealing with some very intense headaches for 7 days. Today was the first day I sat up and didn't feel the horrible pain in the front of my head.

It's gravity based so advil and tylenol doesn't work much. If I lay flat on my back I would have no pain. But once I sat up or stood up the headache got just so intense. Not easy to deal with while taking care of your newborn or toddler.

I'm just SO thankful for all the prayers and for the fact that it has finally gotten better!

We took Casen for his first doctors appt yesterday and he only lost 5 oz. We don't have to take him back for another week! We are so happy to have him here and to start falling into a new routine with our family of 4!

Jocelyn's 2nd Birthday Party

We had to do Jocelyn's 2nd birthday party early since her baby brother is due on the 30th! We went with a Unicorn and Rainbow theme this time! Something mommy and daddy picked! Probably the last time we can pick her theme!

It was a really low-key but ended up being super fun! It wasn't too hot either this time!

Music Class

We decided to sign up Jocelyn for a Thursday music class for 5 wks while I'm off work. But Steve will probably take her alone the next few weeks so they can have some daddy and jocelyn time!
The class is for 1-4yr olds but I'm pretty sure Jocelyn was one of the oldest. It was basically 12 months-2yrs olds! Unlike her gymnastics class!

She loved all the songs since they sang her favorite. Except they started to sing, "Head, Shoulder, Knees and Toes" but they sang it "wrong" which made Jocelyn pretty mad! Ha! So she refused to sing the rest! But all in all she had a really good time!

We had a spur of the moment photo shoot! Jocelyn tried on her new dress that was a bit too big but we let her wear it anyways because it was just too cute. She also thought the boots would go really well with it! Who are we to say no to her fashion sense right!? Love it when she picks her own clothes out!

36 wks, 23 months!

I will be 36wks weeks tomorrow and Jocelyn will be 23 months! YAY!

I had a doctors appt yesterday for Casen! It was not a good one. My first bad one actually! I had come from a super stressful day at work which was probably the biggest problem.

They always weight and do blood pressure first as always and so when she saw my first reading of blood pressure she said, "Oh that can't be right!" and she reset it. So I didn't see the first reading. But the 2nd was 187/84. She wasn't happy with that one either. So she put me in a dimly lighted room, gave me water and ordered me to relax and take a breath! She would let me see the doctor and then re-check it. The doctor eventually let me leave when they got a 173/71 reading!

Our doctor came in shortly after and of course the first thing out of her mouth is "what is going on with this blood pressure!?" I explained about the stressful day and all.

My labs also came back showing early signs of preeclampsia. So those two things combined are not good. However I wasn't swollen at all so that was a good sign.

She basically said she would leave my last day of work up to me for now, but that she reserved the right to pull me out whenever she wanted. I told her I was trying to make it one more week and she said we would re-check me on Wednesday to see where I was at.

However I decided to leave work early today and then take all of Friday off.
Then I will return Tuesday-Friday and finish out the week. I feel good about this plan and hope the doctor agree come Wednesday! But we shall see!

Definitely want to keep this little man cooking as long as possible!

Weekend Fun!

In the afternoon we saw this rainbow on the floor! Actually Jocelyn discovered it! She said, "Stars?" because we put stars from her sound machine on her ceiling every night. It basically looks like this too! So that was her only occasion! I love how she related the two!

Since we were taking photos of it she wanted to as well with her cel phone! She loves her Little Mermaid phone so she held it up and took some picture's too! Cracks us up!

On Sunday we had to go to Daddy's school to help him finish up his classroom before the kids came back today!

Jocelyn helped him write assignments on the board!

But then wanted to read a book since Daddy has SO many in his classroom to pick from!

Then it was time for stamps! She loves getting stamps at the end of gymastics! So when she saw daddy had some too she had to get more! We picked "stars!" of course! Her favorite shape right now! She gets them on each hand, foot and her belly of course!

Then we did a little dancing in daddy's classroom! He of course had music playing!!

But then it was time to clean!

Then back to dancing of course! Always time for dancing in Jocelyn's world!!

So we beat the heat and kept busy since we ended up having to cancel our SB trip! Mommy was sad not to be with the family up there but we will go next time for sure!

Surprise Baby Shower at Work Today!

Today I am 35 wks! Which means I have 35 days left!
My work surprised me with a big baby shower today too! I was so shocked! They lied and said they an issue with some labels that I needed to help them with! So they dragged me into the conference room where I found all this!!!
AMAZING! They have been working on it for awhile and were oh so sneaking! Getting my room colors and everything! I am so blessed to work with such amazing people who care so much!!

Marivel made me some amazing onesies once again! Just like she did for Jocelyn!

Another one of the girls on my team MADE this guitar mobile! I work with such creative people! I love it!

So much yummy homemade food!! We were stuffed by the end!

Pretend City

Last Saturday we met my mom and Emma out at Pretend City after gymnastics! We dropped off daddy so he could go work in this classroom! Kelly and Ryan were at a wedding in SB for the weekend so my mom had Emma all weekend! Jack went to his other grandma's house!

The girls had so much fun together! At first they were a bit shy but warmed up semi-quickly! By the end of the day they were running around and yelling for each other to come do some new thing!

Jocelyn loved filling up her car with gas! "GAS" she would tell me!

Jocelyn's favorite part was the water! Or "wader" as she calls it! She went back to this area several times!

They also went to the store and bought a lot of fruit!!

Then they played with blocks!

They thought it was pretty funny to knock them down! Although it did take awhile to show them that you could even do that! Ha! Such girls I guess!

We also went to the craft room 3 times! We made an apple craft with tissue paper and a paper plate, then we painted with brushes and then we did stamps! I think the stamps were their favorite part of the craft room! Jocelyn was very busy cleaning up her area with wipes after she was ton! Ha!

While Emma would put her entire hands on the stamp pad and make a big hand print on the paper!

After 2 1/2 hours Jocelyn STILL didn't want to go! But it was time! We will be back soon I'm sure! There was still so much to do!

Shannon, Jennifer and Missy hosted another amazing shower for me today! The generously offered to host my 2nd shower at Marie Calendar's Grill in Los Alamitos!

It was a really nice day with amazing food, pie and friends and family!
They did the decor to match Casen's room! Blue, Green and Guitars and drums!
The menu! We had Salad, Turkey sandwiches and pasta to pick from! Also got to pick Strawberry or Chocolate pie for dessert! I got to sample both! YUM!
The cake pop "thank you" favors!
They also made these onsies to hang as decor! Steve loved them of course!

Ponytails!!

On my way home from work yesterday, Steve sent me the above photo with a message that said, "Did you do her hair like this today!?" My response was, "nope!" So we knew Lori had done her hair this way after her nap! Who is dying of cuteness!??? WE ARE!!!

We seriously had no idea her hair would even all go into a ponytail! But again, we had never tried! I talked to Lori about it this morning. She said she thought she looked like a cheerleader! I agreed! She teased that she was going to put one of her daughter's cheer bows in it since she cheered for Steve's rival high school! Ha! Maybe not!

Our Weekend!

So yesterday we ran a bunch of errands that we needed to conquer for awhile. Then today we went on a few more but threw in some fun as well! We went to the El Dorado Nature Trails to start! It was really hot and humid today but thankfully there was a lot of shade!
We saw tons of turtle's sunbathing along the 1 mile long!
Jocelyn wanted mommy to hold her half way through but I was having lots of braxton hicks and it wasn't going to happen! Thankfully she agreed to get back into the stroller...after lots of begging from mommy and daddy! Heehee!
Then we went to the park to see the ducks and swing on the swings!

and of course we couldn't forget the slide!
Then we went home to the AC! Jocelyn didn't even ask to go outside again! Very unlike her so we knew she was hot! The dress she is wearing in this picture was mine as a little girl! She kept looking at the back of it in the mirror! So funny! I guess she liked that part!
Then we played a lot in her room....which she always loves! We read tons of books and played music and had a dance party!

The fan is always a source of fun as well!

Of course we had to play, "Ring around the Rosie" several times as well! So funny that Jocelyn calls the song, "ashes!" What a great weekend!

Baby Love

Last night Steve caught Jocelyn wanting to "kiss" the baby! She would say, "i see! I see!" and try to look down my shirt for the baby! HA! But I finally convinced her she can just kiss my belly! "Kissing" to her is cheek to cheek! So she put her cheek on my belly!

Then I got a bunch of snuggles!!!!!!! LOVE!

I can't believe I forgot to write this in Jocelyn's excema post a few days ago!

When we went to the doctors we of course got a weight check! Normally we do no clothes but Jocelyn freaked out when she saw the nurse. She has never been a fan of the scale either.

So for meltdown avoidance we put her on the scale with clothes and a diaper.

She is now 24lbs but the nurse wrote "with clothes"!

Which means she gained 3lbs in 3 months AND it ALSO means she is now.....in the 25% for weight!
The doctor showed us that Jocelyn had not been in the 25% since she was 3 months old! Basically when the relux, RAD and RSV started!

So it took her 18 months to get back on track! Amazing how that works! But it was super exciting!

6 days shy of 22 months...

Sometimes I want to make sure I remember all the little "new" things Jocelyn starts to do. So I come here to write them down so she can look back on them someday!

Jocelyn started saying 3 words in a row about 2 wks ago now! It's always heart melting to hear her little voice speak! Steve and I find ourselves looking at each other more and more often thinking, did she really just say that!?

Some of her new phrases are:
"Jocelyn do that!"
"I do that"
"Here you go!"
"Oh I know!"
"I don't know!?"
"I need that!"
"Tank ew, Mommy!"
Tank ew, Daddy!"

Jocelyn has also started to love to sing! She started to sing a few weeks ago too! You can't make out each word but she gets the melody down pretty well to know what song she is singing!

Some of her favorites right now are:
"Ashes!?" Which means she wants to sing "Ring Around the Rosie". She really just likes the falling down part though!
"ABC" which she has now added a "D" and sometimes even an "E" to the singing of this song. We also hear the occasional "H" and T" and for sure always ends with "MEEE!!!" I'd say she sings this one the most!
Then there is "Head, Shoulder, Knees and Toes!" She LOVES doing the hand motions but always misses her shoulders! Heehee!
Sometimes she will sing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" but she mostly likes to just hear that one!
We also still sing (or sometimes hum) "Silent Night" to her everynight before bed. She loves this song and her eyes get very heavy once it starts most nights!

Anytime someone sings or she hears a song she gets very excited, raises her eyebrows and either starts to dance or clap to the beat! It's of course the cutest thing ever!

Heartmelting moment of the week was when I had fixed Jocelyn's hair one morning and as she walked out she said, "Tank ew mommy!" Sigh....best.words.ever!
She now does it every morning and also when I make her breakfast and after I get her dressed!

Steve and I were cleaning out the office this weekend and he found these two picture's of Kelly and I! This top one is with our sweet Grandma Jane Courtney! We miss her everyday! She was so special to us and so wonderful! But when Steve saw these he said, "wow you two really look like Emma and Jocelyn!" I looked at them and definitely agreed! Thought it would be a fun comparison to recent pictures!

Jocelyn's Latest Doctors Visit

Jocelyn's excema started to get bad and stayed bad at the beginning of the summer! It normally comes and goes and stays around her ankles. However, it started to spread and was getting out of control. We had tried everything and those products would work for a few days and then stop!

So it was time to see our favorite doctor again! Steve had done Jocelyn's 18 month appt so our doctor hadn't seen me for awhile!

She was suprised to see my big belly! I told her she would be having a new client in Sept! She is super excited for us!

After looking at Jocelyn's skin she agreed it was out of control and we had to bring out the big guns! She put her on an oral steriod for 3 days and then gave us more steriod cream to put on the really bad areas.

Then she gave us samples of the Cetaphill Restoraderm. It's NEW! She said Target isn't selling it yet but we can get it at local drugstores. So far no CVS's I've been to have it. But it's on drugstore.com and amazon! I just wanted to be able to use the coupons she gave us first but can't seem to find it in stores just yet! For now we will use the samples of body wash and lotion she gave us!

About 3 hours......yes hours.....after Jocelyn took the oral steriod the excema on her ankles was 90% better! Steve and I were shocked! There are still really dry spots and a few red problem areas that still need tending too but slowly we are getting it under control!

3 years ago Stephen and I were married!! We celebrated this past weekend! My mom took Jocelyn for the night and Steve and I went to the Melting Pot! We had never been! It was exactly what we wanted. A nice, long (yes don't go there if you are in a hurry) dinner! It was the perfect amount of food and really nice dark setting! They even gave us a cute print out of special events that happened on our Wedding day along with champagne and strawberries for a toast! Even nicer that they gave me sparkling cider without having to ask!

3 years....and 1 3/4 babies later.........

1st Trip to Disneyland!

I made Jocelyn's shirt for her first time to Disneyland. It has a "J" in the center of the Mickey head!

We pumped her up and got her all excited to see Mickey and Minnie!

My good friend Shannon got us in for our visit! She works for disney and so it was a special treat!

Our first ride was the train! Jocelyn loves "choo-choo's" and get really excited to ride them! We took it to Toon Town so we could start at the pack of the park!
We saw the "It's a small world" was a short 10 minute wait. So we took advantage and put Toon Town on hold for a minute. She loved the ride and "ooh'd and aww'd" through the whole thing. She was so wide eyes and even clapped to the music!
Then to Toon Town! She loved the playground and house with the piano in it! She spent so much time there!

Then we got her a churro! She took quite a long time to finish it and never fully did actually!

Then we went to the Tiki Room! Jocelyn also loved that as well! She didn't even get scared at the thunder towards the end!

A duck and her two baby ducklings wander over and hung out behind us for quite a bit of time. I think they were waiting for Jocelyn to drop that churro!

We saw Minnie on our way to California Adventure's but didn't get to take a picture with her. We also saw Mickey, Pluto (several times) and Goofy!

At California Adventure's we rode on a caterpillar in Bug's Life Land and also rode Monster's Inc. Jocelyn was right in the front and never showed any fear! Our brave girl!

By then though we were pushing Jocelyn's patiences. She had only fallen asleep for about 40 minutes at which point we ducked into California Adventure hotel and got some nice relaxing AC time.

We had a really good time for it being our first time. We tried to not have too many expectations but we think Jocelyn did much better and lasted way longer than we thought she would considering her age!

OC Fair 2011

So we are on a bit of a staycation this week! Yesterday we conquered the OC Fair with Jocelyn for the first time! Steve and I hadn't been to the fair in years ourselves so it was fun to see it all again!

Of course we had to have something deep fried....

so we got a deep fried twinkie which Jocelyn and I were suppose to share. But she pretty much ate it all! Ha!

All done...
Then off to the fun zone to play in the sand! They had a GIANT spider in there that Jocelyn had to stare at and yell, "NIDER!" several times!

Then after having a proper lunch of a corndog we had shaved ice! Mommy thought that "bubble gum" flavor would be pink or red. But nope, it's blue! Mommy fail! Oh well!
By this time Jocelyn was very tired. But we managed to get through the shaved ice OK! She was frustrated with it continuing to fall on her so we put baby wipes all around her!

it seemed to make her feel better!
So tired and all done! Ready to go home!!

Stephen's Projects

Even though Steve is on summer break he hasn't stopped going. After meeting several teachers and mentors through the conferences he spoke out during the past year, he's been taking on more projects. Teachers are asking him to participate in their new projects, edit books, help with new iPad applications and even help design their book covers! It's all pretty exciting to watch! It's also exactly where Steve has been wanting to take his career for awhile now.

The latest project involves the website Edutopia! It's a George Lucas funded education website that has amazing tools and resources for teachers at all levels!

Steve has been asked by one of the leaders heading up the New Teacher Boot Camp Blog to help explain some tools new teachers can use in their classroom!

Grandma Davis' Birthday Party

On Sunday we went to Steve's sister and brother in laws house to celebrate Steve's moms birthday!

We had yummy steak and some side dishes that Steve grew up on! He was very sentimental about the side dishes of pasta, lobster and peas and then a hashbrown casserole that was also just as good!
Jocelyn loved playing with Nicolas in his playroom!

Then Nicolas read Jocelyn a few books! So cute! Jocelyn followed him around all over the place. She thought he was hilarious!

Family BBQ

My cousin Whitney and her husband Jordan have been back in town since Wednesday! They live in Seattle now but are moving to Spain in August for Jordan to attend business school at IESE in Barcelona! So they came down to SoCal to do one last family tour! It's always so fun hanging out with them.

So we had all family come over to our house for a big BBQ on Saturday! It was a really fun day!

Today we are 29wks! 7 months and 1 week then! 11 weeks to go!

I had a doctors appt this week since I had to get my RH neg. shot at 28wks. So then I will go back in 3 more weeks at 32 wks and then every 2 wks until I deliever!

I've been feeling good again but not so much today! Just didn't sleep well and stomach pains again! Never a fun thing but I'll survive as always!

We have a big family weekend planned with both sides of our family actually! Super busy so looking forward to new picture's to post soon!

Jocelyn has been putting 2 words together since she was 18 months now (she is 21 months as of last week). It's been so fun to hear what new words come out of her mouth. She is repeating just about everything that we ask her to repeat or at least attempting to! She is starting to talk so much more now!

Words she says daily:
I eat (pretty much as soon as she wakes up)
Elmo and Abby? (pretty much as soon as she is done eating! She wants to watch them on the ipad)
More pease (more please-for more cereal)
Abba? (Ava-her friend at daycare)
My mimi, Aba's mimi! (Mimi=pacifier. If she holds two she says the 2nd one if for Ava)
Two (everytime she has two "mimi's" in her hand)
Swing (for when she wants to swing)
Side (for outside)
Pease (for Please-with her head tilted to the side anytime she wants something)
Shhh...baby Ni-night (when playing with her dolls)
Tank Ew-(thank you after handing her just about anything without us saying, "what do you say!?" anymore! Finally!)
Hi Daddy (she says this a lot to Steve even when we have all been in the same room for awhile together-it just comes out of the blue).
Oh nooo (with a very concerned look on her face, anytime we say we can't find something or we have to get something from another room or we say its time to go...she says this phrase a lot!)
I (this is in place of the word "ok" or "yes". When she says it in reference to agreeing with us we always correct her and say, "you mean YES!?" and she will then repeat "jes!" with a big smile but the next time she always again says "i"...) Anyone know how to stop that!? Sigh.....
OhIknow (all in one word-Oh I know)
Idontknow (again, all in one word)
Nider (which means SPIDER...this is something she has started to say after one time seeing on on the wall. Now any tiny spec of black dirt is a "nider"! She likes to crinkle her nose when saying it as well! Oh and Ants are also niders to her! She is OK with them as long as they are not ON her...when an Ant gets on her watch out!)
Nooooooo (she says this with her head tilted, a big grin and a sing song in her voice to anytime we say something she thinks isn't true)
Example-
Mommy: "Hey Jocelyn, do you think I should dye my hair blue!?"
Jocelyn: "Nooooooooooo......." *head tilted, with a big grin on her face....

Favorite Songs:
A, B, C song-She sings, "A, B, C, E, I.......A, B, C........" and a lot of other things we don't understand yet. Then at the end she yells, "MEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Itsy Bitsy Spider-She does the hand motions of the spider crawling up the wall and LOVES the part when you say, "AND WASH THE SPIDER OUT!"

A few other funny things she has said lately:
SCENE-Putting Jocelyn to bed
Jocelyn: "Kiss Daddy!"
Daddy kisses her..
Jocelyn: "Tank ew Daddy!"
Sigh....heart melting!!

SCENE-I had just changed Jocelyn's diaper right before bed and decided not to put her bloomers back on since she would be getting a bath and PJ's on soon.
Jocelyn: "MOMMY, BLOOOOMERSSS! BLOOMMERS!???" *as she lifted her dress and pointed to her diaper!
Me: Oh sorry I forgot your bloomers didn't I"
Jocelyn: "I!"
I was super surprised she knew what bloomers even were! HA!

Daddy and Jocelyn Day

Daddy and Jocelyn had a super fun Tuesday together! First they went to check out the new Whole Foods and got some super yummy things!

Then it was off to Grandma and Grandpa Davis' house where Jocelyn played with a new tea set! After that they attempted the Library but Jocelyn was not into it!

So back home for nap time!

First Jocelyn had to get the giggles out though!

After a shorter than normal nap she was up and ready to play again!

but was still a little sleepy!

Then it was time to wrap up her baby with the blanket! Jocelyn is a very good mommy!

She even helped her baby turn the pages of the book on the stroller!

What a fun day with Daddy! Many more to come this summer!!

4th of July

On the 4th we had Kelly, Ryan, Emma and Jack over! We let the girls get nice good early 2 hour naps first though! They played really well together. Jack is always toddling after them it seemed or playing by himself! He's such a happy, content baby!

They brought their slip-n-slide which the girls and Ryan had a lot of fun on!

Hanging out in the shade! It was a nice but hot day! But not too hot! Just right!
Kelly and Ryan brought over some tri-tip and Steve and I made a bunch of sides, bread and dessert! It was all really yummy!

The minute everyone left Jocelyn looked at me and said, "ni-night!?" Really? It was barely 6:15pm! So we begged her to take a bath first and then put her to bed. Our plan was to keep her up for some fireworks that we can usually see from our driveway. But apparently that is not happening! She was asleep before Steve even closed the door!
