8 Months!

Our little baby girl is 8 months old today! She decided to take a bottle from me for the first time yesterday! That is very new so I had to post a picture of it! We took some other photos of her yesterday and today! She is doing so many new things it's hard to keep up! We had a doctors appt yesterday and they are happy with her height and head size. But still baffled as to why she is not gaining weight faster. However, they are happy she is still gaining. They said that since her height and head are in the 50% percentile she does not have any hormonal or genetic issues! So that is great news! They want to see her again in another month though. Just to make sure she keeps on track. The doctor said it was clear she was super active and knows who her mom and dad are! She said that is great and right where she should be developmentally! So we will go back in a month.

Here are her stats:
Weight: 13lbs, 11oz (gained 7oz)
Height: 27"!!!

New Skills: Rolling over both ways. Pushing up on her knees trying to crawl. Playing peek-a-boo with her soft books or blanket! Blowing with her tongue out making an "th" sound. Still blowing bubbles. Looks to find daddy when you say, "Where's Daddy?". Screaming (finding her voice)! Sleeping through the night or waking only once a night. Plays a game with daddy where he puts the pacifier in his mouth (backwards) and she takes it out of his mouth. Daddy loves that game!

Eating: I'm still breastfeeding after 8 months! I can't believe it! Jocelyn still loves it so we will continue until she doesn't! However she took almost a whole bottle from me yesterday in sections (not all at once). So she could be starting to ween! She breastfeeds 4-5 times a day. Then she gets 2-3 bottles at daycare of formula + breastmilk. She gets 2 jars of Great Earth Organic Baby Food almost everyday as well (1 for sure though). We do that in the mornings and at 4pm. She LOVES fruit of course. But will tolerate sweet potatoes, turkey, and oatmeal. Everyday we try a new thing! The doctor said to start some table foods like avocados, crushed bananas and tofu! Steve said no to the tofu though! Ha!

Size: She can still fit comfortably in size 3 months! 6 months are a little big but some work ok if the brand runs small. She can still wear newborn dresses too! Her shoe size is in between a newborn or 1. So mostly just get size 1 now! We got her the cutest jelly shoes ever in size 1 that are still a little big! She wear size 2 diapers! So her staying so small has saved on having to buy more clothes!

Her likes and dislikes are pretty much the same. I think the newest thing is that she protests now loudly if you take something away from her that she wanted to play with. But she doesn't like mom to be out of her site! However she seems to be more happy at daycare and doesn't cry when I drop her off now! Which of course is much better for me too!

She loves to drink from water bottles and any time I have one now she wants it! She immediately thinks you are getting it for her and always wants the first sip!
This is what happens when I try to take picture's now! Much more active!

What's that?
The FAN!!?
YAY the fan is hitting me again! She loves wind or fans and things they are pretty funny!

So I was taking these picture's of Jocelyn and I when we caught daddy taking a cat nap! So did not realize he was actually IN the picture's too! SORRY HONEY! I think it's cute!!!

Happy 8 Months Jocelyn!

Pampers Dry Max

Unless you have a child in diapers, you probably haven't heard about the contraversary surrounding Pampers new Dry Max diapers!

I'd like to start by saying we loved (yes, past tense) Pampers diapers! They got us through the newborn stage that lasted very long for Jocelyn! They were even the "go to" diaper by CHOC hospital when Jocelyn stayed there for a week! We trusted them! But they have since betrayed our trust!

After Jocelyn finally moved up to size 1-2 diapers we bought a box of Kirkland brand from Costco. They didn't feel or smell like Pampers. They were still pretty big around Jocelyn's legs so, back to Pamper's we went.

We bought 3 bags that were on sale at Target about 3 weeks ago now. I noticed the new packaging but thought nothing of it! I even noticed the "dry max" on the packaging and it reminded me of the new commerical I saw for it, but still really thought nothing of it!

We used the diapers for about 2 days when I noticed Jocelyn had a diaper rash! She never really had one before. She had a few before but diaper cream cleared it within hours! So I slapped some more cream on and we went about our day!

But it didn't work this time.

I put more and more on and I talked to her daycare lady about it. We talked about other brands of diaper cream and said we would keep trying! By Friday night she almost had little circle burns on her bottom! That was super alarming to me! I again put tons of cream on her and tried to make her comfortable! That night, I was talking to some friends and they told me about the new "dry max" brand of Pampers being in the news! They said that it had started to burn babies bottoms! SAY WHAT? My heart sank! I immediately changed Jocelyn into the kirkland brand. Within less than a DAY the diaper rash was GONE! Nothing, not a mark on her! She hasn't had an issue since the day we stopped using the "Dry Max" Pampers!

So of course then my thoughts went to this company! How dare they hurt MY baby!!!! I researched a ton online and found all these statements that Pampers had released. They basically said (in so many words) that us moms were just afraid of a new product! Excuse me? How insulting can you be!? No ownership? Not even, "we will look into it!?" They also said that only a few people out of 1 million diapers sold got complaints! Oh really? Well let me try and increase that for you! So off I went to complain! I sent about 20 emails! I know that is pretty small in the scheme of things but every bit has to help right?!

So after my 20 email complaints I sort of forgot about it! We moved on to Huggies (because Kirkland 1-2 are too short for Jocelyn now and 3-4's are too big) size 2's now!

So in the mail yesterday I got a BIG package from P&G! Hmmm what could THIS be!? Yep, a big questionare to fill out by Pampers. Asking me to fill about about 10+ questions from "Has your baby started new medication" to "have you ever used other diapers". They also wanted to know if my baby saw a doctor. If so, they want the doctor to fill out a questionare! They even want what is left of my product back! Where is the money for the product? I want THAT back!!

Of course I'm filling it out. But I feel sort of like I'm being set up! As if they are looking for something to blame it on! Like, "Oh well you had her on Zantac so it could have been that!". I just feel weird about the whole thing! But it's not right and something should be done! Make your product better, fix the problem! But don't blame the parents! We have enough on our plates!

To be continued.... :-)

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day! Jocelyn honored those men and women who lost their lives over the years serving out country! She wanted everyone to know what today was about so she asked me to put her in this very appropriate outfit for the day!

We were pretty lazy today. But Jocelyn and I ran a few errands and got some shopping in while daddy did some much needed laundry! Then we walked to the store (our favorite thing to do) and picked up some strawberries and shortcake! Jocelyn got a nice long nap in as well!

We had a such a great weekend as a family! Perfect kick off to the summer!

I love my Daddy!

Memorial Day Weekend

We've had a great weekend so far. Saturday we went shopping a ton and ended up getting Jocelyn a bunch of new books. She loves the ones with mirrors, babies and books that have different surfaces to touch! Sunday we went to the Strawberry Festival! Not exactly what we expected, but it was still fun! It was rather hard to find strawberry food actually! It was basically just a carnival! It was perfect weather though and not too hot! Then we decided to go to Seal Beach to pick up our favorite BBQ, Beachwood BBQ on Main Street. There is always an insane wait so we usually get it to go! We love it down there! Such perfect weather! When we got home Jocelyn and I played in the backyard for a bit. Steve took picture's of us! She was so tired after the long day! After Steve looked at these picture's he finally saw that Jocelyn DOES look like him a lot1 I've been telling him this forever but he never saw it! These pictures finally convinced him!

Ryder's 1st Birthday

We had Ryder's Birthday party on Saturday. We had no idea it was at the beach so expectantly Jocelyn saw the beach for the first time! Thankfully Summer had baby suntan lotion as well! Jocelyn had a blow out right when we got there so it was the perfect opportunity to change her clothes and then spray her down with suntan lotion! Thankfully she had a hate and sunglasses in the diaper bag! They also had a tent which we kept her under most of the time! We had a great time though and got to catch up with a ton of friends! The birthday boy, Ryder, Summer, Jocelyn and I, Dylan and Dana! Madalyn and Jocelyn!First time in ocean water!!
