Grandpa Davis

Sadly, we found out that Stephen and Robin's Grandpa Davis, passed away on Dec. 26th. It was sudden and rather unexpected. This has left us all in a dazy and scrambling to get flights and hotels all day long! Steve and I had plans to go to Las Vegas and then off to Santa Ynez Valley for our week vacation. So we will now just be in Las Vegas until Monday night. We will fly out of Vegas on Tuesday morning and into Tulsa, Oklahoma that afternoon! We plan to stay through the weekend! We understand this is such a hard time for Stephen's Grandma as their 69th wedding anniversary was coming up on Jan. 1st! Thanks for everyone's prays during this hard time.

Curtis & Jackie's Wedding

Curtis and I before the ceremony!

My cousin Curtis and his fiancee got married this past Saturday! I was their when Curtis was born and remembering holding him thinking he was such a heavy baby! Of course I was only 9 then! I think we saw them almost every weekend when I was growing up so we have some great memories together! I just can't believe he is married now! I did their invites for them so it's been fun hearing about all their planning. This wasn't just any wedding though. It was a renassiance themed wedding with a little Christmas thrown in there! They encouraged everyone to dress in the themed apparel! The closest we got was getting a sword screened shirt for Steve to wear! But we were suprised to see how many people did dress up for the them! Despite the rain and freezing temp., the night went well and I think everyone had a good time!

Jackie's dad, a pastor, married them in full renassiance attire! Super cute flower girls! My aunt made their dresses! These were the ushers! Slightly intmading with those spear thingy's!
Jackie and my Aunt Kristi (Curtis' mom). As you can see she got into the theme as well!

Aunt Kristi and Uncle Michael!

Curtis, Jackie, me and Steve!

Steve and I, waiting for the ceremony to begin! I had the giggles BIG time!
The back of the shirt that we got for Steve!

Aunt Cherie and Mom! I think the giggle's started when we realized we were on the wrong side! We are so use to being on the brides side! Whoops!

Caroline (Curtis' sister) was a bridesmaid. That is her fiancee, Kenny! He leaves for Iraq Jan. 21st! They got engaged last week actually, but are waiting to get married until after he returns!

Here are the other twins in our family! Sonia and Sameer! My cousin Michael and Annik dressed them in the most renassiance outfits that they had! They loved it! My cousin, Michael with Sonia and his wife, Annik with Sameer! They just moved to Del Mar in San Diego from DC! We are so excited to have them in Cali now!

My mom with Sonia!

I love this picture of Sameer! He is taking it all in as we ate dinner! Like a little man!

Sonia was cracking herself up! Sam is on the more serious side though!

Dinner was either a beef bread bowl or chicken, veggies and potatoes! I had signed up for the beef bread bowl but I chickened out at that last minute. Although everyone said it was really good!
The groomsmen decorating my cousins car!

Their cake was cheesecake because neither of them like regular cake!

Now they are off on their honeymoon down in San Diego for the week! Congratulations Curtis and Jackie!

Brunch with family

Steve and I met his mom, dad and Nicolas at Hoff's Hut for brunch this morning. Steve parents always take Nicolas to breakfast on Sunday mornings! This time we got to join them! My favorite Nicolas quote of the day was when Steve's mom was trying to encourage Nicolas to sit still. She said, "Do you want a time out or chocolate when we get home!" Partly teasing him. He said, "A time out!" HA! Um ok! So funny! We had a great time though and Nicolas was very patient during the long wait!

Getting our first Christmas Tree.

We actually found out tree right away! So easy! Got it loaded up and into the car.
Steve giving the tree some food!
This is the wreath I made earlier in the week!
Our new angel for the top of the tree!
Yay, it's finally Christmas now. We listened to Christmas music as we set up the tree! It smells so good in the house now! Love the smell of Christmas trees!

Jim Dandy's BBQ

We went to a new super yummy BBQ that just opened by us in Los Al on saturday afternoon! It's only been opened for a week so far. They don't even have a phone line or credit card machine yet. But they have a full service dining room & a window just for take out food on the side once they get set up more. Their meat was prefect! They have our favorite sides too! Sweet potato fries, mac & cheese and potato salad! We will definitely being going back soon!

Mosun Sushi!

Last night we went to Sushi down in Laguna Beach! It's sligthly far from home but it's worth it! On Monday night they have ALL YOU CAN EAT sushi for $20! We met Darren and Jenni down there this time! We had crunch rolls, potstickers, korean beef, shrimp tempura (well not me of course) and miso soup! You can only sit at your table for an hour and half and you must eat everything on your plate or they charge you the full price. Although I've never known them to do that yet! But the plate sizes are much smaller than usual so you can get through much more!
This is only one order of these that Darren got. He ate 20 of this little guys! They put his on a big plate since he ordered them at the beginning! So good and such a great deal!

Palm Springs Weekend!

Before we went to Palm Spring we went to Steve's grandparents old house in Yucca Valley. His grandparents and mom built it from the ground up in the 70's! Steve and his sister have so many great memories there. They sold it a few years back but Steve hadn't seen it in awhile and we have been wanting to come see it for awhile! So this was a perfect oppurtunity to go!

This is the street the house is on...
UPDATE: Above is the house BEFORE. This is what up looked like when Steve and Robin were growing up!

The house! It's blue now. It use to be yellow. The tree is SO much bigger than it was in the picture's Steve had shown me from when he was little. They had also added on a garage to the side. Steve said they changed the slant on the roof as well! There were a few bank owned homes around it. We were secretly hoping it might be too, but it wasn't!

We walked to the back and saw that it was full of horse stalls now! Very different from what his grandparents had back there.
Here is the back of the house! We got as far back as we could! But then I saw two pit bulls that were not chained and not behind a fence. We slowwwllyy backed up and then hi-tailed it to the car! Scary!

I was sort of obsessed with the sunset that night!

The first night in Palm Springs we went to dinner at the Chop House and then met Jenn and David at The Village. Then we were off to the Spa Resort Casino right in the downtown part of Palm Springs! This band was playing hit songs, including Sublime! Of course we had to dance to Sublime!

Then we went to this club called Zelda's that David and Jenn had been to before! It was an 80's club when they went one night awhile back so we thought it would be fun! However, apparently they change the theme often! We paid $10 to get in so we wanted to stay to get our money's worth! The boys were playing pool while the girls were just people watching (our favorite). But then these guys come out and started stripping! They had a full on routine's and dance moves! All these girls started screaming! We all looked at each other like, what just happened? Where are we? It was soo weird! It was SOO smoky from man made smoke we could barely see anything though! We left soon after girls started dancing on the poles!

We weren't looking..promise! HA!

The 2nd night we went to dinner at Las Casuelas. It was pretty good food but we sat right on the street so we could be in the middle of the action! We took our time eating and had a great time!

On our way home we saw some of the burn area's from the recent fires! The cross off the 91 was still there!!! YAY!
Look how close it was to the fwy! Featherly Park was burned a lot! All in all it was a great weekend! The weather was prefect! It got into the 80's during the day! We got to decorate for Christmas a bit on Sunday when we got home! We are so ready for Christmas!
